Poduval’s Personal Efficacy Test - (PPET)

The PPET is a normative, online, psychometric test developed for Indians and with high reliability and predictive validity. It can identify socially desirable responding (‘faking good’) and is used in recruitment and personal/employee development.

What are the key features of the PPET?

Evaluates all-round behavioural capabilities in a single test:

The PPET was originally developed for the professional use of Prof. Ramachandra Poduval, its creator, as a tool for the all-round behavioural evaluation of candidates for selection. The primary objective is to grade test-takers on the basis of their ‘personal efficacy’ – the sum total of the behavioural capabilities of the candidate to manage self, others and their environment to achieve his/her goals. Higher level of personal efficacy indicates higher effectiveness and efficiency in dealing with tasks, problems, situations and people.

Standardized in India and fine-tuned to recognize even age-based and gender-based differences:

The PPET is standardized in India (for Indians who are 20 years or older). Its norms were developed in India based on Indian conditions and fine-tuned to recognize even age and gender-based differences in personality. Thus, the predictive validity of the PPET is very high.

Ability to identify socially desirable responding (‘faking good’), both deliberate and non-deliberate:

The primary obstacle in the effective use of psychometric tests for recruitment lies in their susceptibility to manipulation. The PPET addresses this concern by incorporating a sophisticated mechanism which can not only identify this tendency in the respondent but also distinguish between deliberate attempts to present a favorable image and non-deliberate responses influenced by excessive self-confidence.

Normative, fully automated and anonymous and enables longitudinal tracking (can be used for tracking development and growth of an individual over a period of time):

The PPET offers a normative framework which is essential for the objective comparison of the reports of multiple candidates. It is also fully automated and generates an instant and comprehensive report without the need for further scoring or interpretation. The respondent remains anonymous to Transform Minds, eliminating any scope for bias or influence. The PPET can also be used for longitudinal tracking of employees, making it a versatile tool for organizations seeking to not only make informed hiring decisions but also monitor employees' progress over time.

How is the PPET tailored for the recruitment function?

The PPET was created specifically for use in recruitment and possesses features that are essential in such scenarios.

A single online test that is applicable across roles and levels

The PPET measures overall personal efficacy and its constituent traits in a single test, evaluating the candidate’s capabilities in managing self as well as managing interactions with others. Thus the PPET covers the general behavioural traits that are applicable across all roles and levels.

Enables objective comparison between candidates

In addition to revealing behaviour patterns that manifest in various contexts, the PPET assigns measurable grades for the candidate’s behavioural capabilities enabling comparison between candidates.

Ability to effectively identify socially desirable responding or ‘faking good’:

In psychometric testing, especially in recruitment scenarios, individuals may try to manipulate their responses so as to present themselves in a positive way or to appear more competent than they actually are. The PPET has an inbuilt algorithm that is more advanced than the traditional ‘lie-score’ method for identifying instances of ‘faking good’.

Fully automated, confidential and instant report:

The PPET is a highly advanced test giving deep insights but at the same time is quick and easy to administer and interpret with instant reports. The reports are self-explanatory and can be interpreted directly by the client without the need for any additional training or expensive certifications.

How is the PPET administered?

A respondent can attempt the PPET online with the user-name provided by the client, thus making sure that the respondent remains anonymous to Transform Minds. It will take the respondent about 15 minutes to complete the PPET and the PPET evaluation report is immediately e-mailed to the client.

Every client is provided with an exclusive online page to easily manage and track their tests.

There is no need to spend additional resources on certification of own employees for evaluation or interpretation of the test. The PPET provides a ready-to-use and detailed evaluation report instantly to the client.

How valid and reliable are the results of the PPET?

Validity and Reliability are measured in terms of coefficients and depend on the specific statistical technique used to measure them. Coefficients above 0.50 are generally considered acceptable for psychometric tests and indicate a strong relationship between the result of the test and the criterion tested. Multiple types of evidence for validity and reliability have been gathered for every sub-scale of the PPET and are all found to be well above 0.8, establishing the PPET as a valid and reliable test.

Nevertheless, we recommend that you evaluate the PPET for yourself. There is nothing like a hands-on evaluation to understand its capabilities.

What are the costs for using the PPET?

The PPET is charged on a ‘per evaluation’ basis and further details regarding its pricing can be shared separately.
